The National Boarding School Paolo Diacono (hereafter CNPD) is a comprehensive state institute that encompasses the sectors of boarding, semi-boarding. Teaching activities for school students, educational support for semi-boarders and boarders, lodging (including dining services, wardrobe, and infirmary) for boarders are carried out.

The students are mainly from the territory of Cividale del Friuli and neighboring municipalities, however, especially among the boarding students, there is always a percentage of students who come from further away, even from outside the Region, and abroad.

The Institute has collaborations with local bodies, the third sector, foundations, cooperatives, and economic operators in the area.
